Product Creation Labs

The Newsletter - Issue 17

It's been nice and sunny here -- not too hot and muggy, yet. However, I've only enjoyed a little of the lovely sunshine, and that's when I go for my run. See ... I've basically been locked up in the Lab, creating the monster -- the Mega Project.

What's it gonna be? Mark May 25th on your calendar. That's the day Rieko and I hit Singapore, and join a bunch of fellow marketers for drinks at the Grande Mercure Roxy (I hope I get to see you there). It's also the day I take the wraps off the big project. Of course, as a valued Product Creation Labs reader, you'll get the first peek under the cover. But, all those hungry marketers in Singapore will be getting wind of it shortly afterwards -- so don't delay checking it out.

Is it gonna be earth-shaking? Well, let's just say this ain't no bland white bread ;-)

THANK YOU FOR SHARING

I've had some great e-mails -- sharing progress, new products created, great sales letters written, successes. I love getting these. It's always special to share in your successes -- keep 'em coming.

CASE STUDY: PUTTING TOGETHER A HOW-TO GUIDE -- THE QUICK WAY

This week, I promised to go over a case study with you. I'm going to show you just how easy it is to create your own info product.

Creating a how-to product doesn't have to take a lot of time or effort. In fact, it can be downright piece-of-cake easy. A few weeks ago, I released "All-Thumbs Guide To Installing $7 Secrets".

http://7dollarinstall.com

That guide took me one evening to make. That's it! It took a lot longer to get the e-cover made.

SCREENSHOTS MAKE IT EASY

This was what built my guide. I simply went through the whole procedure -- from unpacking the $7 Secrets scripts ... to packaging up my own info product for shipping ... to uploading files ... to customizing the HTML .. to creating a web form and pasting it in ... to configuring the scripts ... and then testing the system. As I went through each process, I took screenshots of every step along the way. With the capabilities of SnagIt, I could add arrows, highlights, and text to the images.

WRITING BETWEEN THE IMAGES

Now, it was a very simple matter of inserting the images in Open Office, and writing explanations of the shots along the way. It doesn't get much easier than this.

YOU CAN DO IT, TOO

If you know how to do a certain process in a popular software (like creating e-covers in Photoshop) or on the Internet (like creating lenses in Squidoo), you can easily produce an illustrated guide -- based around screenshots.

You can get SnagIt (my screen capture software of choice) from:

http://techsmith.com

So, whatcha waiting for? Start snapping screenshots and put together your own guide.

BTW, I only released "All-Thumbs Guide To Installing $7 Secrets" as a Warrior Special Offer. I didn't do any promotion (other than my sig file), and yet over 60 sold in the first 24 hours, alone. Not bad for an evening's work.

Work? Actually, fun!

NEXT WEEK

I'll be sending you next week's issue as our plane lands at Changi Airport (one of the most beautiful airports I've ever been through). You want to open that issue as soon as it hits your inbox. Why?

You'll see ;-)

Also, we'll be going over a special practice you can do to become a truly great information product creator.

Until then, have a great week and keep writing,

Mission Leader
Kevin Riley

Get On Track To Success

Get your own copy of Product Creation Labs Newsletter delivered directly to your inbox every Friday.

I subscribe to a lot of IM newsletters, from the big name gurus, to the little gurus, to the wanna be gurus…and there are few that I actually read.

I do actually open and read Kevin Riley's Product Creation Labs newsletter, because he provides honest reviews of products, provides great marketing tips, and recommends quality products.  There is a lot of noise out there in the IM world, and Kevin provides me and my internet business with something different - honesty and clear direction for building an online business.

Thanks Kevin for the courage to be different by simply providing what most of us are looking for online - integrity.

While I am subscribed to dozens of newsletters, the Product Creations Labs Newsletter is one of only three that I make sure I read every word of. I always learn something that helps me make money.

If I have a complaint, it's only that I wish the PCL newsletter came out more frequently.

Here's what I like about PCL newsletters - I always get something of value in them. So, I am careful not to EVER delete one without reading it (something that I cannot say for alot of the stuff my inbox gets inundated with). Besides, you never bore me, Kevin.
